I keep reading that but in my experience they can give intermittent problems long before packing in altogether. The symptoms are also very similar to fuel starvation.
Got a 78 T2 and had a very similar issue. Ended up being a loose / badly terminated connection on the -ve side of the coil to electric ignition pack. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Feeling for you, has anyone mentioned the FI ECU specifically a fault in the circuit board, my brother in law had a very similar issue with his 80's fuel injected Fiat 124 which went on for months and drove him crazy, eventually diagnosed as a fault in the ECU circuit board, the board was replaced and problem solved. Hope this helps but most importantly I hope it is quickly resolved what ever it is !
On a FI is there any way of checking fuel is getting into the engine, as on a carb you can just check the bowl and see if fuel is getting as far as the carb.......we had a similar problem and diagnosed it when we checked and the bowl was empty. The flow to the carb wasn't as fast as the use, especially when accelerating hard. it was a crushed filter in the fuel inlet on the carb...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH don't tempt me!! I am in the same mind as LC but for different reasons, I just hate and don't have time for body repairs and it's only going to get worse...........
Have a look in the samba for the "AFC trouble shooting manual. It shows how to test the injectors. Basically take them out and put them in a jam jar and activate the fuel pump by moving the AFM I think. This then activates the pump and you will see fuel squirting out of the injector Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Is this sorted yet? Change fuel filter and check fuel pump if not. My bay used to judder particularly uphill when the fuel pump was losing pressure. I also recently had a twisted fuel filter which restricted flow on another occasion, the latter problem will take 5 mins to check and fix.
No, I cant be arsed throwing any more money at it. Gonna check ut a T25 then either put it away in my mothers garage or sell. I have swapped the ecu unit with one @davidoft sold me and still the same issue,
Hi congi, I've been through all of this and more with my FI set up but that was ten years ago now. I put a pair of DRLAs on it and never looked back. You'll get lots of conflicting advise but I've never regretted this. Very simple, faster and better mpg
I feel your pain. Stuck on camp sites with family trying to work out what's went wrong. Cutting out on main roads etc. Loss of trust. Every turn of the key is a stress. Carbs on, trust built back up and many years of happy camping.
