My Crew-cab restoration 'Crewie'

  1. So it's started!!
I'll have a full set of pictures at the end of the welding work, although will provide some updates as I visit the van in the Garage.
Welding started last week. So far, no big surprises. In fact a lot of the chassis is in much better condition and won't need to be replaced.

  2. Sadly not much progress until this week due to an overrunning project at the garage. In the meantime I have ordered the main parts for the suspension including:
4 inch narrowed link pin beam
    adjustable rear plates
all the other little trinkets needed for this

My next decision is the type of carbs to go for...

    Webber twin 40's
or webber twin 34's (the single choke ones)

I'm sticking with the standard engine for now (1600 Mexican)

I've also removed the tow bar, if anyone is after one?

  3. More cutting...I just want the welding to start. Hopefully this week...so hopefully an update next week with some fresh metal.
Now I just need to choose the carbs.

awesome wheels, those are the ones I had my eye on for my van, but needed to spend the cash on some more pressing parts :( whats the backspace on those ?.

Cool project as well :) looking forward to updates

  8. Finally, some progress...the doors are painted the correct colour and fitted, and the final piece is exposed at the back so the reference points are in place. Hoping for some fresh metal next week...

  19. This side is nearly done, and should be done by the end of the week. The other side is slightly easier and doesn't have the cab door too.
