I was looking at these today....Is it me or is there no Black Sabbath on there? There's certainly Zep n Deep Purple.....I need to have another look anyway cos at first glance I thought some if them were sh*te choices

 

Paranoid is about half way down on the right hand side Some of the choices are a bit ropey but at least they've not just made it a rock and metal chart and included some 70's funk which tends to get overlooked for its guitar content.

 

Yes, there's Chic there ..... but September, EW&F? Great song, great band but great riff?

If you click on art b's link at the top there is a definition of a riff. It's fairly decent definition.

 

For what it's worth That Lady, the Isley Bros got my vote. Fab stuff from Ernie Isley . I'd have had Scotty Moore (Elvis), Mystery Train if it had been on the list.

 

Not really a serious rift, but I've always liked the rift in Nirvanas song "love buzz" and also the one off of the same album "blew"

 

I've always liked the intro to sweet home Alabama. Plus it's great fun to play

I thought the list was hugely flawed! I'm a big Foo Fighters fan (not enough to just vote for them) but who thinks "Wheels" is a great riff song!? "Stacked Actors" is probably the most powerful riff they wrote, based on the tempo that people can comfortably pogo

Anyhows... Layla will most likely win, but I voted for a song from my generation.... Seven Nation Army.
