Your first Drive of your bus

Can I get my money back, I wondered ?

 

Yep drove it from Dudley to Grantham with no tax as to PO had cashed it in so we knock a full years tax off the price. It coughed and sluttered all the way, found out the fuel filter had lumps of taking seal in it.

 

Think I wish I'd test driven one first! Love it now though. And I think a test drive would have put me off.

first petrol stop on the way home and about to run out of fuel ohh dear none of the keys seam to fit the petrol cap thats jolly quint

 

This is not the vehicle for rush hour on the M6 in the pouring rain.

 

That was my second thought!

 

Why dont the brakes work~? bobbing along the M1...

Drove it from Bournemouth back to Poole, so not far. It was the first time I'd driven in about 2 years and it scared the life out of me tbh!

 

Stalled on the slip road coming of the A19, then telling a Lorry driver "to go suck a **** " as he was giving rock all on the horn.

 

My first thoughts during my first ever drive of a campervan, AFTER I'd paid for it and begun my 200 mile journey home?

What's that noise?
Where's second?
Why doesn't it go properly?
WHERE'S bloody second?
I wonder how much fuels in it.
Why aren't the gears in the right place?
How much money have I just chucked away?
Oh now where the hell has first gear gone?
What a heap of Marmite.

 

Thank god this doesn't go very fast as the brakes are awful

 

Hopefully I will let your know in April if I get an engine in.

not driven mine yet, hopefully it will better than the split screen we hired.

 

• Is it normal to see the road through a hole in the floor near the gear lever?
• I know aircooled are noisier than water cooled, but it does sound really loud and metallic
• Blimey we are high up
• Steering is a lot heavier than my Audi
• The gear box feels like stirring lumpy custard
• How do I pull away on a hill with that weird handbrake?
• This is gonna need some work!

 

M1-A14-M11 almost 4 hours. big smile on my face. Overtook some lorries. Stopped for coffee at M1 services and came out to see cones everywhere and a fire crew dealing with a modern car on fire just along from my bus. Checked the oil then all the fuel lines before starting first time and smugly driving off.
