Mine is Rob’s records in Nottingham. I’ve been visiting for 30 years or so (I think) and have watched the walkway showy shrink
Sports Motorcycles, Manchester. In there I saw everything from Mike Hailwood’s TT winning Ducati (which they built) to a Gulf Porsche 917. Currently, Oxford St Chippy, Stalybridge. I went there last night, it is literally the living room in a terraced house, so you have to wait in the street when it’s busy.
Wardill bros Thornton-le-Dale. https://www.wardillbros.co.uk/ They have never let me down yet. Their stock coverage is quite amazing. Well worth a browse..
Harrison & Dunn's proper old-fashioned hardware store in Bourne and Stamford. Not a spare square inch of wall or floor space anywhere, all covered in stuff you know you'll need one day.
My favourite shops have all mutated into shadows of themselves, or closed, or the proprietor died suddenly and were succeeded by people with no idea. But I still enjoy a browse in the Winchester Cathedral second hand book shop.
Delaneys in Macc’ proper 4 candles hardware store where you get served at a counter by a bloke in a brown coat! Never asked for anything they hadn’t got, biggest thrill is if you get invited to come and have a look for yourself through the lift up counter hatch
Yes there gear is expensive now, Chainsaws and H/. cutters and strimmers . And second hand they will most likely been thrashed to kingdom come and poorly looked after .
Trago mills Liskeard. Means I’m on holiday, it has superb genuine bargains if you know what you want, it sells everything from carpet to sweets and I love the breakfast in the cafe too!
Love stores like that ! Sadly the last two local to me shut down a few years ago . I especially like the fixture and fittings in those old shops . Wooden cabinets with lots of drawers and brass handles etc
