I don’t know much about drumming your right. However my comment was that it was a choice out of left field. Possibly a terminology issue there. I wasn’t denegrating his ability in any way, nor your choice ( probably based on actually knowing something about drumming ). It was just an unusual choice given he isn’t that well known. You touchy old git!
Not well known? Oh. He is by me and I haven't heard of most of those rock drummers up there. ^ I fo like a drummer that listens to the music and accentuates it, a rare thing...drummers being what they are!
Yes... not well known! Most of this lot won’t even have a Clash album or seen em and I've no knowledge of his career other than that. But likely I will have a google and see what he’s up to!
Thanks for the shout. I've taken a break for the sake of my m.health. Peart for me, was right at the top, but I don't want to get into a "Who's the best...." type of argument. They all have strengths and weaknesses or an affinity for something, or bring something special to what they do. I try to learn from all of them. BTW - Some of my favourites that are missing from this thread are Krupa, Morello, Copeland, and Philips.
I am more of a guitar type, always knew all three of them were good but it was always Alex that I listened most to. Then when I started hearing all the drummer types enthusing about Neil I gave him a bit more of a listen and realised the amount (other than the lyrics) he gave to the overall sound. I do realise Rush are a bit of a marmite type group tho.
Kenney Jones from the Faces, now theres a solid tub thumper for ya.I saw an act from years ago on a Dennis Norden programme, it was a music hall clip and yhe bloke played drums using tennis balls in socks, brilliant.
About middle after guitar solo, probably not worlds best drummer or solo but I like it. Drumners name Ron Bushy
Gilson Lavis is the original drummer from Squeeze - now plays with Jules Holland's Band. I saw them last year and when the drum solo was introduced I thought 'Here we go " But the guy is pretty impressive.
