Our first ever trip to Dorset and we found this superb campsite in the heart of the Purbeck countryside, just outside Corfe Castle. 160 pitches set across 3 fields, 13 acres in total. The field we pitched up in bordered the Swanage Steam Railway, my 7 year old son loved waving at the trains. The site was busy as you would expect during the school holidays, but it was quiet and there was a relaxed friendly atmosphere about the place. The facilities were clean and tidy. A ideal base to explore the Isle of Purbeck, there was plenty to see and do in a relatively short travelling distance. We would walk into Corfe Castle which took about 20 minutes. We enjoyed the very nice beaches at nearby Studland. Also had great trips out to the Bovington tank museum and Brownsea island. Looking forward to going again next year.
Agree totally, this is a great site in our favourite part of the country. We have camped there twice, last year in our tent and this year in the bus and will be going back again next May. By the way if you want a good day out with the kids, try Monkey World, just down the road from the tank museum.
Cant agree more The Purbecks are a hidden gem. Fantastic area, never over busy either . Been going for years, I could go on and on about the place, but I wont, cause you know the secret now
Yep, loved this site when we visited a couple of years ago. Walked to Corfe across fields and ate at The Greyhound pub. It was dark when we left at closing time and walking back on the busy road would have been hairy. We asked at the pub for a local cab company but they said we would be lucky to get one. So one of the bar staff offered to give us a lift back to the campsite on his way home if we could wait 10 minutes until he left off. How about that for service !?!?!
We stayed at another site within walking distance to Corfe Castle. No roads. Monkey world and Corfe Castle were brilliant.
@skirk it's such a lovely place....moved the family, new schools etc...just sorted VW storage, just the house to sell but already had some beach BBQ's.... so many places to see and go
Love this site just got back from another couple of days down on the Jurassic Coast, well recommended, not many sites that get me back twice but Woodyhyde is spot on, although more expensive than last time, @21window cheers for the well packaged stuff
It is a nice site I go for a short break there every year, last couple of years they have added a lot more electric hook up points in field 2. And the cheapest place around to get Camping Gaz refills.
