  1. hi all stuck in Exeter. Dead won’t start again. Had changed the neutral to battery and driven back from Ipswich to bath ok but now only got from Bath to Exeter on way to Cornwall. Aa on way but don’t know where to get towed to if needed

You could try the hammer tap on the starter motor and the remote start wire from the battery to the starter motor spare tag to bypass the ignition switch( ignition on, wire from battery plus to starter motor)
If its the starter motor and the engine was running before you turned it off you may be able to bump start it.
Also if it was running ok when it wouldnt start again, GSF do starter motors and ignition switches. Any under- the - arches style local garage can change the starter. But you need a specialist to fix the ignition switch who knows the techniques to replace it .. but a replaced starter and a starter button fitted by little garage would work..

(I used to have a Morris Marina car with no starter motor. I tried to park it on a downhill hill or on a flat road with 50m of straight so I could push the drivers door frame until it was rolling, jump in and whack it into gear and bump start it.)

In the Exeter Mercure hotel car park we rolled out of a parking space and bump started the bus a few months after we bought it when it stalled and wouldnt start the night before.

  3. Was the fuse! Well starts now but now no indicator or hazards. What fuse is that?

  4. Try this.

  5. If your stuck for fuses I have some here and I'm 45 mins from Exeter (scrub that and hour in a van) but back to Yeovil.

  6. What fuse stopped it starting? Most odd.

  7. Not being an electrickery type i really can`t comment but surely a fuse wouldn`t cause starting issues ??

Possible i suppose if it`s got an electric fuel pump but wired into the fuse box ...... maybe ??

    Red Herring methinks ...

There must be some loose wires - fiddling under the dash may be affecting the connector under the steering wheel that connects the ignition switch to the loom - an array of spade connectors in a plastic housing. These can fall out ...

All descriptions of problem solving with this bus come down to 'fiddled with it and it started'.
The elephant is loose wiring in the room. ..

  9. I don't suppose you have an automatic gearbox? There's a fuse under the dash, not in the main fuse box, which serves the selector box and it won't start if it blows.

I'm more inclined to think loose wires though.

Given you other thread I would start at the battery and check the connections are tight and sound on the starter, the back of the fuse box. the ignition switch and don’t forget the gearbox earth strap.

  11. Oh so maybe I will be breaking down again some time soon! Out of interest what is cost of new electrics fitted?

  12. Pointless fitting 'new elecrics' , just clean the contacts as mentioned above !
