  1. We're off to the Wolfsburg factory next week - am tremendously excited.

Has anyone here been? Any tips? Apparently there is a campsite very near to the factory, which is great as I know dogs aren't allowed on the tours so we will camp at the site and let the boys chill out there while we're pootling around.

Can't wait to see the Distribution Centre - it looks incredible, floorless towers of cars.

  2. Have a fantastic time! very jealous

I was given a trip to the Wolfsburg [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow]ory as a 30th birthday present from my better half last year. There's very little to do in Wolfburg so she booked us into a hotel in Hamburg instead. It's about a 1 and a half hours by train (from memory) but the highlight of my trip was when we accidentally stumbled across the prototyp museum in Hamburg city. 3 floors of historic VW/Porsche cars and memorabilia. At the time I visited they had just received the Grundmann '38 so I believe I was one of the first to see it and have that whole floor to myself at that time!!
The Wolfsburg [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow]ory didn't really appeal to me and I even felt like an outsider with my VW camper T-shirt on. I assumed everyone there would have been an Aircooled nut. However, the large museum inside the [glow=red,2,300]FACT
[/glow]ory with classic cars was excellent.
The independent VW auto museum a few mins walk away was the main feature for me in Wolfsburg. Don't miss that!!

  4. Take many pictures for us! Jealoussssss

  5. The Wolfsburg factory is nice for stuff generally VW, but don't expect them to be overflowing with aircooled. Go to the Zeithaus - that's the museum with all things VW as well as Porsches, a DeLorean, a Citroen DS, etc.

I also went and had a look in the Bugatti building at the mirror-finish Veyron, I took an Amarok around the off road course, and the 2 car towers are worth a look just for the whole German-ness of a machine shooting up the tower, grabbing a car and bringing it down to be prepared for yet another happy VW customer.......

In Wolfsburg itself is the Stiftung VW Museum - well worth a look for all the old VWs, rareties and one-off prototypes. It's just by the McDonalds.

Here's our pics from when we went:
