Now tidy up the wires and put those labels on straight

  4. ^this. Labels straight, and I see an exposed conductor on the left hand side.

There are many, the auto factors didnt have any shrouded female connectors.

Heatshrink or replacement soon. I pinged up eBay orders for connectors and more 10 amp fuses after finishing.

The relay on the left, the unshrouded tag is earth.

And I am going to replace the relay with a more efficient MOSFET solid state relay. It sits there pulling 0.1 amps from the starter battery to enable the leisure supply from the dash board Devon water pump switch. It sits there at 40 deg C..

  6. BiFETs, darling. MOSFETs are soooo last year...

  7. Use these baby’s with a proper set of crimp pliers. Much neater & OE than those terminals.

Theres something 0.6v Vce (sat) of a BiFET compared with the millivolts of a fully turned on MOSFET .. gets hot if you want to switch amps in a small space. No big deal if you are switching kilowatts with BiFETs and expect some heat.

As we kept discovering back in the day in Philips, there were and are many better bipolar and hybrid technologies than silicon MOS but so much more R&D was done on MOS that it always ended up better.

It’s like you are speaking another language Mike ;)
That said, how easy is it to replace the old bullet fuse box under the dash with something beautifully tidy like you’ve just done? The mess of old wires in my cab would make Medusa feel positively good about her Barnet.

  10. If you do it, get your labels straight!

The labels are very small and they beat the 'no label and WTF is that 1mm2 wire doing on a 16 amp fuse ?'

The fuse box there is actually just behind the sink on my bus, alongside the junk solar charge controller and 600 watt inverter/battery charger 20191001_171000.jpg
