Wobbly door and hinge pin adapters

  1. I've got a late drivers door on my 73 westy so theres a bit of mix and matching been done on the hinge front.

It appears the previous owner welded up an early hinge (with the 15mm hole) then redrilled it to 8mm for the later size pin. Theres no adapter like this anywhere to be seen:

The lower hinge is now wobbly as the bit that attaches to the van is worn. :(
Am i right in thinking that all i need is one of the round adapter thingys (thats 15mm OD and 8mm ID) and add it to a new early size hinge?

  2. just kampers do a late to early door conversion pin jobbie but if you mean the po welded the door part of the hinge you could possibly redrill it oversized to 8.5mm and fit a split van oversized hinge pin

  3. Hmm, never knew you could get oversize pins. The bit on the door is perfectly sized though. Its just the middle bit that bolts to the pillar thats worn.
I think i could get away with just obtaining a new early size hinge and one of the round adapters (i don't need the full lot) in the JK kit here:
