wobbly clutch

  1. I noticed today how loose the clutch pedal is compared with my modern cars. This is to be expected but is there a level beyond which I should be concerned. The bus drives great with no sign of slipping but the amount of movement when I touch it seems immense. I noticed it when I applied the clutch claw. The pedals usedvto be fairly aligned but now the clutch is much nearer the floor.

The clutch pedal that goes through the floor bolts to an operating arm.

Could be worth checking that all is well there but I've never known one come loose.

The only adjustment is at the gearbox end of the clutch cable.

You will see a wing nut on the operating arm on the right side of the gearbox near the engine.

Turning this wing nut will alter the pedal travel and the clutch bite point.

If the problem is related to the clutch itself - it's an engine out job I'm afraid.

  3. ^this. There's no difference with a Bay to a modern car: they're not that ancient ;). Either your clutch pedal has come loose under the floor, or the clutch cable is way out of adjustment.

^ Or the cable is fraying at the conduit cable ( At the back near Gearbox) and is about to snap.
