wobble bolts?

  1. Does anybody run them? have any previous experience of them?
Using 5x114 wheels with wobble bolts would open up a whole new world of wheel possibilities for Paul, but I've been having a look at how they work and they seem a bit questionable to me..

  2. Will this do?

  3. Wobble bolts are designed to be used on hubcentrically fitted wheels, VW are studcentric.
Basically this means that on (generally newer) motors the wheel fits tightly on the centre hub (usually with a spigot ring) and this is what centres the wheel, the wobble bolts then take up the difference in pcd between your wheels and your hubs.
On buses it is the studs that centre the wheels, it IS possible to use wobble bolts but it's a huge faff trying to get the bloody things central, personally I wouldn't do it.
If you're really determined you could have special spigot rings made to your design thus eliminating the issue.
Personally I'd just use different wheels or, I suppose, adaptors as even they'd be preferable to unsupported wobble bolts.

  4. Cheers Glynn, I wasnt aware of that. You're always teaching me things
Looks like its gunna be adaptors whichever way I end up going then, so it makes a lot more sense to stick with the wheels I've already got.
