Wiring Loom

  1. Just looking at the excellent work on Ironage's resto thread and saw the new wiring loom from Rapidfit installed. Anyone else done this on their van? It seems that this could prevent a lot of headaches when my van finally goes back together.

  2. I gave my complete loom to Heritage for their people to make a late bay loom from (apparently they didn't have one) So mine was the first prototype that they took all the measurements from etc. The new loom that they sent was superb quality. All I had to do was carefully remove the old wires from my original connector blocks from under the steering column etc and feed the new terminals into the original blocks (you cant get new replacement blocks) All in all, I now have a brand new fitted loom and the peace of mind that that gives. Well worth the effort!!

Personally i don't like them as they use new blade type fuse box, new type connectors i like to keep it original as i think it looks better and makes proplem finding easier as it matches the book.

I do a lot of work for Ron at http://www.vwendangeredspecies.co.uk/ he will make you a new loom to match your year van including the correct wiring colours plus any extra wires you want.

  4. Strange! My new loom was made to fit all the original fuse box, block connectors and even the horrible little diagnostics box in the engine bay (though admittedly I had to solder the tiny round pin connectors on from my old loom) You wouldn't know that it was a new loom other that the fact it is in new condition.

Sorry I was talking about the original post asking about the rapidfit looms.
Not seen a heritage loom but it sounds good.
