Daughter taking part in English Alpine Champs in Italy. Just crashed out in Super G with 100m Slide to stop. Like watching the skeleton without the tea tray. She's just gone back up for another SG race. No stress!
I don't blame you, if the Aussies can win one Gold Medal we'll be ahead of the UK in the medal count. Not bad for a sunburnt country
Top 20 finish for Dave Ryding at slalom. This is a fantastic result as he has to have fund raising events just to compete as there is so little funding. Just got back from the English Alpine Champs in Italy. There really are some brilliant kids and I hope they can break through to the top. It is very very scary in the start gate and a long way down.
The Brit skiers and boarders have done well. To put it into perspective, we ha've little snow so the kids have to train on carpet or be a 'fridge kid' in one of 5 indoor slopes. The only other thing is to come from a loaded family who can send them off to an academy in the Alps. It cost me £45 per race and she entered 4 in Italy and that is without flights and hotel etc. GBs top alpine skier Dave Ryding had to hold tombolas just to get to the Olympics. Sorry for rant but when Rooney gets. £300k a week!
