Winter bus storage.....

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Fronkjunior, Nov 10, 2011.

  1. Hi. I was offered somewhere to store my bus over winter but I have been let down. I am looking for somewhere to store my bus under cover. It can be anywhere in the south of England - as long as I can get there by train from London to pick it up again!

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hey Fronk - I have been thinking along the same lines as ours is out the street too.
Maybe if anything comes up north london way we could both go in on it? Depending on situation?
If I hear of any kind of lock up this way I will def let you know.

Im guessing there wont be many as London is difficult to find room as it is let alone room for 2 bug vans :(
    Anyways fingers crossed.

I have also heard that covers from JK are very good. It might be that for us?????

  3. Hi Dean, how's it going? I have one of the JK covers but was hoping to find something a little more out of the elements for the depths of winter.

I am sure it will be difficult and/or pricey for something in or close to north London but don't mind travelling a little out of town for the right sort of place. I'm not sure how much places charge, but the chap who has let me down was talking about £8.50 per week - but this is in Norwich! Sure this would mount up, but I was only thinking of doing it over a few months to keep out if the snow and salt , on the roads.

  6. nearly £400pm - £4800 a year ouch

  7. The rent on my little cold leaky workshop went up from £320 to £680 this year!!! I told the old git to get stuffed!

This was 5 months ago and surprise surprise its still empty now :)

Lucky enough I was owed a favor so I got mine indoors until April in a little garage and when I say little I mean you have to go in to the bus through the rear hatch :)

  8. Oh, that's a little more than I hoped but thanks for the info. My plans are on hold at the moment though as my restorer has gone AWOL at the moment, so need to sort that 1st. That's another story though......

so 84pcm is not so bad then? Only need it for approx 3 months. Dec till End of feb.
    3x 84= £252 :)

  10. i know its not much help to you but around here there are tons of farm buildings let. one guy rents the whole shed and then sub lets the spaces inside for £40 a month.
it might be worth looking into this? also look on other forums as a lot of people store other makes of car over winter in units on industrial estates or farms. these things tend to be word of mouth and rarely advertised

have a look at council garages too. Ive got one in the next road up from my house adn costs me about 46£ a month. no electric etc but its out of the elements and cheap. i can fit my golf and a load of spares in there easily.

Just depends if they have any in your area.
