Windscreen wiper assembly question

  1. Morning all, I am in the process of refurbishing the wiper assembly I replaced when one of the shafts seized up. My question is about the positioning of the lock rings on the threaded brass sleeve. Is there any measurements out there, I can't find anything in Bently/Haynes/Muir et al. I know it may not make much difference in the real world but I would like to know I had done it correctly :)
    Cheers

  2. Do you mean the positioning/lengths of the threaded brass bits?

  3. I found the correct spacing by trial and error, unfortunately I didn't take a measurement, so can't help now.

  4. yes I'm looking at the height of each of the lock rings from the bass of the brass tube, the unit is sitting on the bench with a 12V power supply and on normal speed it's drawing about 400mA so looking pretty good but it would be nice to have it as VW intended:)

  5. Hi Andy , as @Iain McAvoy says , it`s just trial and error . I roughly judged how far out they needed to be screwed on the inner nuts and went from there . By sheer luck or good judgement it was `reet enough` and nothing caught but i do remember fitting the new washer nozzles which turned out to be a real ballache with the motor in place - making sure the mechanism doesn`t nip the pipe .
Doesn`t help much and i can`t measure it at the moment - hoping you get there with it

    :hattip:
