Hello. Winding up the cab windows on my bus is free and easy thing to do, until you get to the last 1 inch or so to the top, when it becomes very stiff and a struggle to close them 100%. It's the same with both windows. I've had a look at all the mechanisms and everything seems fine to me. (Then again, I know very little). The felt around the windows is new too. Any idea what the problem might be?
Could be the window glass needs a bit of adjusting where it is attached to the winder mechanism. If you have original winders dont break them as the new ones are weak and break more easily - i am on the second set after the "restorers" broke the originals.
Passenger side on mine is stiff all the way up, the winder gave up on Sunday on the way back from Lazy Sunday at Uttoxeter, just spinns round now, new felt and seals.
Or, inside the door the winder mech spring runs into a bendy plastic tube as you wind the window up. The tube must be poked through a hole in a strengther inside the door to keep it a straight run. It get left out sometimes on a resto.
I had this when i replaced a lifter channel, because i wedged the glass into the channel while it was fully wound down, then when it was wound up the glass wasnt quite sitting right in the frame making it very stiff. You need to try to get the channel on while keeping the glass up to the top of the frame if i remember correctly.
