I'm Looking for a new engine and have found a 2 litre Type 25 engine apparently with bell hiusing adaptor for my bay. Does anybody know if this will fit and also will it be any good? It's aircooled, sorry am a complete novice when it comes to engines.
Thanks very much. Do I need an adaptor then? Thanks for the quick response. Will be untouch later. Need some panels including battery tray if you have some back in stock?
I thought the T25 lump has a different engine bar with rubber mounts , and the dip stick is in a the wring place? I cant see all the tin ware just matching up and I my typeT25 had a hydraulic clutch. Also if you are mating it with a 1600 box the conversion wont last forever. Im not 100% on this but I looked in to it a while back and thought it looked like pain.
The engine will 'bolt on' but you will need to swap some gear from the bay engine - like the fan housing and alternator plus lot of other bits. I remember seeing a post with a list. If you are a complete newbie to engines I would say its not a job for you - it's not a straight swap. I think Zed had a T25 in a bay and was reasonably happy with the result - perhaps he'll reply.
Ned is right about the support bar - it will need adapting. And the dipstick will be in the wrong place but I think thats liveable.
square port heat exchangers, fan housing and alternator, carb manifolds and vacuum lines, throttle bar top engine tin is what I was told.
Got a feeling battery trays arrived in stock yesterday but dont hold me to that. Just heard soemone mention it this morning.
Yes it is doable and it will fit as the short engine is the same as fitted to late - late bays. However.................. To get it to fit properly (and have heating, and seal the engine properly so it doesnt fry itself you will require various items - engine bar, some tinware, alternator and bracketry, very late bay heat exchangers with the square ports. As for mating up with your box then you would need the correct bell housing, or a 2 litre box.
