We used to live in a septic tank and our dad used to thrash us to death with his belt, and if you tell the kids of today they wouldn’t believe ya
You had it lucky, we used to live in a box by the side of the road. We had hot gravel for supper, and our dad used to beat us to sleep...
My mum started leaving me a sleeping bag and camp bed in the shed when I couldn't find the keyhole after a night out..she's found me asleep in the garden loads of times.... Does that count. Seriously though I have done rough sleeping wild camping in the lakes when younger. My favourite place was a place called ulpha, slept on the river bank with a camp fire at the bottom of a small rock face.
Small tent, wet dog = much snarling and gnashing of teeth from the pair of you. Know this all too well.
Last time I was out set of from Station Inn at Ribblehead. Plan was to bez up Ingleborough for the night. 7 pints in and short of light and breath , ended pitching in a spaggy moss filled tractor rut half way up. Slept like a babe. Strange how the gallon before heading up to Stickle Tarn the previous week didn't have the same effect. Might have been the Rogue Herdwicks tripping over the guylines all night.
No, the weather will be pleasantly moderate and dry. For the whole 4-6 weeks... it will.... I'm getting him a rain coat
Luxury, our mum and dad moved us to Barnsley, we used to have to work 26 hour down T pit, eat chips with gravy, walk whippets to working mans club and drink ******* beer
One of my son's friends at university recently woke up after a heavy night out, wedged in the corner of a bus shelter, surrounded by school kids waiting for their school bus !
