As some of you may have seen, I have recently entered a competition to win a chance to go to space. To get there I need votes, and have to be in the top 200 at the end of the allocated. Paradox commented on my other thread regarding this matter and said I should write a page explaining why people should vote for me. Now I am not the most creative writer in the world but I thought I would give it a go. I suppose there is no reason why I 'should' go to space, more to the fact of why I want to go. Now I could fill thread with sob story's explaining that I only have one eye or my dog has a limp but as truth would have it, I lead quite a blessed life, I have been able to grow into an adult with a free mind as my parents never put any pressure on to me as to what I should believe or what I should do with my time on this little rock. A few years ago I came to a crossroads in my life. I was confused and really didn't have a clue what we were here for and what we are supposed to do. So I set upon trying to figure out what the heck was going on. In those years I have studied various religions and teachings, sciences and history to try and gain some insight as to why we do what we do, say what we say and act like we act. Its my opinion and only my opinion. We are here to love and to teach others how to love through our actions. Now I know that sounds a bit lovey dovey but I do not mean love in a hug everyone around you kind of way. What I mean is the love that you gain through experience throughout your life. Be it your parents, your first pet, looking forward to Christmas's when you can see all your family and friends. I used to take such things for granted but as time as gone by I have noticed that the people and things you love in life slowly dwindle down in numbers and the things I had taken for granted were no longer there. I concluded that the only way to be truly happy in this life is to appreciate what you have today, letting go of worry's and anxieties and living for the moment as in reality this is the only thing you will ever own. Now!! The past is the past and you cant get that back, the future is unwritten and can't be predicted. You can make an educated guess drawing from your previous experience's but you can never be sure as to what is going to happen. The reason for me entering this competition is because I have spent my life with the mind set that if you want something, you have to go out and get it. No one will help me. Its up to me and me alone. But with the evolution to my logic I think its time for me to put myself out there and draw on help from other people. There are two main parts of the competition, the voting process then physical and mental challenges. I have no way of controlling the voting process which make me feel a little vulnerable as I am used to being in control. The second stage of the competition I have no worry's about because I will be able to influence the outcome. There are scientific and emotional reasons as to why I 'want' to go to space but I do not think I am quite ready in my life to let that information out into the big wide world. I hoping that when in space I can look back at the world and think 'do you know what, its not that bad down there after all. Its were all my friends live!' I hope that all make sense in a roundabout kind of way. Like I said, writing down my thoughts is not my strong point but you have to give before your ready to receive I suppose.
