Why is nothing ever simple? Good job I'm not going away this weekend ggrrrr

  1. After doing lots of research and polling people on the forum I bought a set of carbs from a reputable company as recommended by virtually everyone. They cost £160 more than the competition but I thought what the heck, let's buy the best.

Just had the mechanic on the phone, he's had nothing but trouble with them and the van will not be ready today. The kit didn't even contain all the bits he needed so he's had to go out and buy stuff which has eaten into the day. Unfortunately he isn't working tomorrow and I'm away with work all next week so I won't be able to pick her up until next Friday  Thank god he agreed to keep her at his place.

To make matters worse he said he fitted the cheaper kit to a van yesterday, he said the carbs themselves are identical and it's just the extra bits that are different, it took him 3 hours and runs like a dream :( He's now put 4 hours into Luu and is nowhere near finished.

It really is typical, normally I'd be a tight bum and get the cheapest thing that would do the job but as it's the van I thought I'd splash out - just goes to show I should stick with my instincts in future.

As a slight plus point this does mean I can finish painting the garage floor this weekend ::)

    Webbers then!

  8. on the plus side, the garage floor really does need finishing and with Luu safely tucked up some where else you've got some room to move *runs and hides*

btw do you want some help?

I had a long chat with LP yesterday during whiche he recommended chinese head (better casting) and chinese webers (better kit and very well made. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, it's chock-ram full of people who fecked up but prefer to blame the PO and suppliers than their own incompetence. :)

  13. Im just getting fed up off buying so called best fit german quality spares and they don't fit, you got to hack and modify them to get them to fit.
