Who sells new steering boxes?

  1. And I don't mean 'who sells reconditioned steering boxes, but suggests on their website that they're brand new'. Can you buy these things new? Whatever, can anyone recommend a good supplier? Perhaps a guaranteed used part? I've had two now from the same supplier and they're both rubbish. Was a step in the right direction though - the second one was a little better than the first. The first one leaked and had too much play in it. The second one's just got too much play it it. I just want one that works properly please.

  2. Vwheritage do new Lhd ones I believe not sure what you need though.

  3. I'm after an RHD. I now know that you can't buy these new anymore - all the RHD ones are recons. I guess I'll just have to exchange the second one and hope that the third one works properly.

  4. If you have one spare, why not find a gearbox place to recondition it for you? Won't be cheap if it's a one off, but you will know that it'll end up right. Supergears are highly recommended:

  6. what's your front beam like ?

if your going to need a beam soon and a steering box then a red9 front beam with steering rack isn't that much extra

  10. Fix the box(es) you've got.

If you're concerned about slop, BTW, the standard box properly adjusted should have zero slop in the straight-ahead, but quite a lot of play at full lock. This is normal.

  11. remove yours , take to proper engineering shop , ask to see previous work , job done , as i understand , "hen"s teeth"
