which speaker

  1. Folks,

Wiring my speakers up to my radio but im unsure which wire leads to which speaker in the back. Just heard from a lad at work that if you put a 9v battery onto the wire the speaker will start clicking so you will know which one is which. Anyone know if this is true?

    yes
I use a 1.5v AA battery and just tap it on to find out what speaker clicks as you tap

    a 9v might be a bit high

or judt power up your stereo and turn it on and connect to one cable at a time to see where the sound comes from :)

have more fun connecting pos and neg correctly, best way is to check for continuity from front to rear one wire at a time, you can't assume the stripe is negative front to rear (someone may have joined the cable)

    ^^ Whs .
I had a swapped connection at a join made by the PO in one speaker cable on the way to the back, and the sound was strange when I first connected it up to the new stereo.

As you moved your head from side to side the sound changed in tone.

Wired the same way round, you will see the cone move in the same direction on both speakers with the same polarity of battery connection.

  7. That could be a problem. Think I will use chocolate boxes to set it up first until i know all is good.
