  1. after a great weekend at tekenders (sp?) i've been made aware of a potential problem in my engine bay (stop sniggering Ricky).

the breather pipe needs connecting into the top of my shiny new carbs bt what's the part called? i want to be able to ask my mechanic for the right thing or at very least have a pic so that i know it's been done.

have to say a big thanks to Moons for noticing it and for everyones support and advice... it still makes me laugh remebering being told "don't want to worry you..." as 6 people made their way to the engine. it was worth burning my toast for :D

the top of your carbs is the air filter, you can t both pipes into one of them.

moosey had the same sort of thing on his van, basically he just used some sort of pipe fitting to make it work, maybe you should start a thread in mech/tech asking people who have done the same how and what they did, you may find there is a proper part that can be purchased that will look pretty and not ruin your lovely (expensive) carbs.

  6. Don't know what the part is officially called, I just lashed it up from various bits and pieces. There was
    • some fuel injection hose from halfords (packet said 7mm, writing on hose said 7.6mm)
    • a brass T-piece from ebay - thisa brass hose tail to connect to the top of my air filter, also from ebay - here - the 1/4" x 5/16" (8mm) onetwo metres of 8mm copper pipe, also from ebay - here
The fuel hose came with two clips, which I used to attach short hose pieces to the original cut-off breather pipes. I then ran copper pipe round the top of the engine bay to the back, where the carb is. Then more short hose pieces to link to the T-piece and a final longer piece down to the air-filter.
The links between the other pieces of hose and the copper pipe and the brass fittings don't have any clips because I don't think they need them: It's a 7.6mm pipe on 8mm pipes/fittings and it's not coming off by itself in a hurry.
Finally I drilled a hole in the top of the air-filter plate and stuck the tail piece through it.

Make sure he doesn't use nuts inside the air filter!!!!!
You don't want them rattling off and ending up in the engine.

  8. thanks all. not had time to take him to the garage (work) but hope he knows what he's doing and not putting random nuts in to rattle around :/
