option 1... very cloudy, and the other side the indicator bits cracked a little where someone has done the screw up too tight. have been toying with the idea of just getting a replacement set that are the same.. option 2. picked them up on ebay for cheap, thought it was worth a punt cus i couldnt decide whether id like them or not. if i decide to go for these i will be painting the rim bit round the outside black, because i dont think the clear outline works so well.. what are your thoughts?
Don't like either, but its up to you. Shouldn't the indicator be orange, so you may have problems come MOT time.
i painted my bulb orange its passed three mots now if i had to have one of them i would have the second one but rearly none of them think your colour van would look better with the original ones
What he said^^^. However smoked ones look nice but often go yellowy / opaque after a while as do cheap after markets. Im guessing your original ones in first pic were smoked style?? Unfortunately genuine VW ones will set u back £50.
yeah, the original ones were smoked originally (i would imagine, came on the bus pretty much as pictured..) i find standard ones pretty boring though, and there is no way im paying 50 quid for rear lenses, so il probably just end up getting replacement tinted ones. have gone off the red and white ones now ive slept on it..
I think some new smoked ones wld look good. They're often quite cheap so replacing every few years not gonna cost as much as new VW ones
yeah i was thinking the same thing i was kinda expecting a pretty unanimous response towards OG ones, so im glad someone agrees!
I just put of ones back on my bus and had clear red clear on mine but they went yellow. So back to standard. I have had a few trying to get the look I wanted
Whatever lights will get you an mot and on the road You can change them to suit your bus at a later date
dammit para, that was my idea haha! and the lights are irrelevant to the MOT man if the thing doesnt start.. keep forgetting to get in touch with Martin again at BCC. might need someone to help remind me.... actually, now i properly think about it im pretty sure i stole the idea from your thread in the first place.. so i may have to retract that last statement i really like it it makes a massive difference though, considering its such a small job! just like my yellow headlights...
Years ago when lexus style lights were all the rage on modified cars I melted the glue on a pair of fiesta lights to seperate the outer clear cover from the light I then prepped and painted the chrome section the same colour as the car and bonded the cover back on with clear aquarium silicone You should have seen the faces of people that looked at the lights and the amount of people asked me where i bought them from was a proper laugh Sometimes its the small details that have the best effect
yeah i remember those days! quite glad that fad went relatively quickly... i did something similar on my old civic headlights, chucked 'em in the oven for 20 minutes (ma wasnt impressed...) whipped the front covers off and painted most of the interior housing black, then stuck 'em back on. everyone loved it! eventually sold the pair on ebay for 200 quid when the car went... only cost me a fiver haha! i agree though, its the little things that make or break a build, no matter what your building...
