We are away for a hotel trip to Loughborough for a wknd break. Somebody bought us a nice hotel package for Christmas so we are using it to go here. Does anyone have any good ideas for us as to where to visit? We don't like boring stuff like old houses, we like interesting stuff where we can see some history but have fun, also we will visit bake well so I can relive my first tart and give Sam her first one. Lol. Anyway any ideas welcome. Oh and if anyone has been up Abrahams heights in that cable car thingy, is it worth it? Psg
great central railway if you like a ride on a steam or heritage diesel train? there is also the great central north which has a transport museum too. http://www.gcrailway.co.uk/ http://217.158.157.207/railways/GCRN/index.htm
yeah the butterly one (formerly midland railway centre) is a bit crap though only a couple miles long
I will warn you the Bakewell tarts at Bakewell are very very sweet and sickly, but if your going that way try gulivers kingdom at Matlock Bath.
Is the Bell foundry still open and allow visiters, They made Big bens bell there, Had to google it mind just to double check didn't want to look daft : Also Notts has some good places to visit. Having lived next to both steam lines loughborough is better although Midland is but only for a walk round the yard the actual line is abit pants compared to loughborugh which is about 9 miles.
