Where shall we go in the van for the week after Christmas?

  1. Dales. 3 show caves, 4 castles off top of me head. Catterick, Ripon, York, Wetherby races, and Middleham with all the gee gee training and gallops.

    Peak District, centred round Buxton and Castleton.
     
  8. I was just going to put in a vote for the Peak District - lots of stunning scenery, nice cosy pubs, great walking, the Caverns at Castleton. Buxton, Matlock Bath & Castleton are all nice towns to wander round (if you like that sort of thing). @bernjb56 & @JennyB have been a few times to a nice campsite in Castleton ...
     

  9. Peak District is great in most weathers, barring too much snow .... The campsite we have stayed at in Castleton is the Camping and Caravanning site, great location, but unfortunately closed at that time of year (something to do with the weather I think!) Ashbourne is an area to look at, more South Peak District, but lovely scenery just the same :)
