Where does this wire go?

  2. Hmm looks like a bit of a Heath Robinson job. Is it some you just noticed or is the vehicle new to you, you could look up the wiring diagram for you year and see what should connected at the back end?

  3. Been a while since I worked on an upright engine, but think it might be to the alternator light on the dash?

  4. From memory , on mine the green wire is USUALLY ignition related - either a live from the dizzy (points) to coil or linked to the fuel cut off valve .

  9. Yep should be to the dash warning light if it’s coming from the alternator.

  11. If I’m honest I can’t really see clearly what is what in your photo. There is a lot of wires there! Is that something on the fan shroud? I thought it was a sticker!

    All I know is if it’s the same alternator as mine, the red wire goes to the starter and the blue goes to the dash.
    I think some of them have external regulators so it could be that. Does the top of your alternator look like mine?
    Do you dash warning lights work?
