It was the words "bulkhead connector" I was missing, thanks. When I just did "barbed hose", I was swamped and had pages of results
I put rubber grommets in my filter lids and just pushed in a right angled 3/8” NPT elbow - see blue things in my eng comp pic. Fit well, and no nuts to drop into the engine.
One of these bad boys? Doesn't necessarily save money if you use a fancy fitting but the elbow will be easier to attach the hose to
Yes! I think. Will check later. Those fittings are great. Bit pricey, but there’s such a wide range if they come from the same folk I got mine from. Hate brass stuff - looks like you’ve had the plumber in...
One of the buggy guys gave me a tip - use plastic fittings as if the nut drops off it won't damage the engine like a metal one would. Seems to make sense.
1/2" barbed fittings come in a range of internal bores. Get the biggest you can so you don't clog it up at the last hurdle. 10mm minimum?

These are the folk. Loads of good stuff, and in a choice of colours to match your mood... http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/hosefittingsuk
