  4. No, I think that's right, it's the hose that's 1/2 " id, so it needs a 12mm barb.

I'm sure if you search for "barbed hose connector bulkhead 12mm brass" you'll eventually find one :)

  6. It was the words "bulkhead connector" I was missing, thanks. When I just did "barbed hose", I was swamped and had pages of results

  7. I put rubber grommets in my filter lids and just pushed in a right angled 3/8” NPT elbow - see blue things in my eng comp pic. Fit well, and no nuts to drop into the engine.

Doesn't necessarily save money if you use a fancy fitting but the elbow will be easier to attach the hose to

  9. Yes! I think. Will check later.

Those fittings are great. Bit pricey, but there’s such a wide range if they come from the same folk I got mine from. Hate brass stuff - looks like you’ve had the plumber in...

  10. Rivnut from the top so it can't fall into the carb, simples.

  11. I like @snotty's idea of just pushing a coupling into a hole with a grommet in

  12. Fits nice’n’tight. I’ll get a pic later.

  13. I am going to get my filter lids off later and assess the situation :) I think I have ridges on the top

  14. You could drill and tap them 3/8” NPT. Nice size for breathers (about 1/2” ID).

One of the buggy guys gave me a tip - use plastic fittings as if the nut drops off it won't damage the engine like a metal one would. Seems to make sense.

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

1/2" barbed fittings come in a range of internal bores. Get the biggest you can so you don't clog it up at the last hurdle. 10mm minimum?
