HI My Son is 17 soon and i brought him a 1303 (1972) Beetle - I can't get insurance for him as all Classic cars are only driven by 21+ Any idea's or pointers .... Done the go-compare etc some funny old names came up with £3K plus for 1 year cno:
You will really struggle for classic insurance for a 21 year old. We ended up just getting standard insurance but that was for a 23 y o.
what you need is to do, put him on your policy and name him as a second driver ........i would buy a copy of vw camper mag and phone one at a time .......probably lancaster or pete best would be good bet .....nearly every insurance company i phoned as a 37 yr old in london would not insure saying that the recent thefts have made it impossible to get cover from whoever does the insurance thing ,since found out its all cods wallop and down to the company ,as you can get insurance for anything and anywhere....theres a certain company that is close to home,would not insure me but insure a camper 2 streets away ...hows that for mental....peace out ......2nd driver on full comp policy for 17 yr old is cheaper than 3 rd party ,so just fully comp bro......p.s. call direct line you might get lucky ....i was 2nd driver paying 100 quid extra on me dads at 19
when i was 18 no one would insure me on my van, only if the quites where over 4k. But as soon as i turned 19 got loads of quotes, and im paying £900 though justkampers.
