I’m starting again when this foot gets more workable.
Gonna have a ‘Men’s foot’s got better, let’s go cycling’ appreciation day, because…well, why not?

Well, a woman’s body is designed to literally create and support a life, whereas ours are designed to basically spoff occasionally and try and pull our trousers up to stop our arse cracks showing.

It’s a point oft over looked by never been elite sportsmen when they claim elite women can’t match elite men.

I think in the equation of life we were Ringo to John, Paul or George…..Andrew Rigeley to George Michael.

We are but a tiny cog in that occasion.

The way to man's heart has always been below his stomach..as a lovely lady married to a French man once said to me.

So we've established that there is potentially an International Men's Day on November 19th then?
Excellent. Equality and no sexism to see here then? ;)
Seriously though, International Womens Day was set up at a time when things weren't all equal. In many countries this is still the case.... the International part of the name should give that away. It's not just about the UK, where we have gone a really long way to make equality real.
But even here, it was less than 50 years ago that a woman couldn't have her own bank account, or a credit card in her name. And if she wasn't married and didn't have a husband to manage the money, it had to be overseen by her father.
Less than 2 decades ago it was still okay to pay a woman less for doing exactly the same job as a man.
In the UK we really have made great steps towards equality, but this is INTERNATIONAL.... and maybe we do need to celebrate those women who have got us this far, and definitely those women who have done great things in countries where the odds are massively stacked against them.
By promoting these women, maybe we can hope to change opinions and ideals in countries that aren't so advanced in the equality race as ourselves?
It's only one day of the year, after all.

I agree, my mother at 90, is one of the greatest women I know, and if you knew her history and what she has down to promote the things she promoted with great success, then you would agree too. The things that she ever did for the Scouting movement in this area is phenomenal.
It’s just that some people on here simply can’t take a joke.

I think we have all grown to 'know' your mum a bit here on TLB, especially her amazing knitted creations, and its obvious to see how much you love her - so give her a hug from us tomorrow. And keep the photos coming.
The thing with being able to take a joke, is that its very open to interpretation - and as we know, the written word makes it hard sometimes, no matter how many smiley faces and winking emojis are added.

    Yes, I will.
‘Open to interpretation’ is hard when a lot of people have ‘closed minds’. Especially the ones that are old and set in their ways.
Autism ADHC and Asperger’s weren’t a thing when the older generation was at school, mind, so a lot of the older people, were never diagnosed. But no one really thinks about that, do they. I was only having this conversation last night ,with a girl who works in that field with adults our age. The older generation just puts it all on an ‘ignore list’ in their minds and carry on blindly the best they can…

No, but you have to concede that the man’s what, 2 seconds of contribution compared to the woman’s 9 months of carryinng then potentially months of feeding the child isn’t exactly ‘equal’ is it.

Your jokes aren’t funny and the constant baiting of people who make the point you’re sometimes off the mark is beginning to wear a bit thin. Then the fact someone is older than you seems to be a well worn fall back for you in the defence of your overstepping the boundaries.

From where I stand you’re another couple of remarks away from a TLB holiday and possibly a much longer one than last time. Listen to what people are giving you as feedback and move on please!

It is the weekend and he is suffering an injury. So perhaps lots of what goes through his mind in tranquil isolation whist at work needs an outlet ?
