What's my camper conversion ?

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by Ughey, May 21, 2013.

  1. Hi all, we are new to the vw camper scene and we have just bought our first late bay, a 1977 , but we are unsure of who converted it. We first thought it was a Viking but we can't find one the same and after talking to someone at the van jamboree at the weekend we are not so sure. Any help would be brilliant. Thanks in advance, Dave. image.jpg image.jpg

  2. Will get one on in a mo..

  3. And pictures with the roof up ?

  4. A pic with the roof up may also help identify... I can see why you think Viking

  5. Here's a inside shot, haven't got one with roof up as yet and can't get the roof up yet because of the bloody sky dish!! Need to move the bus first, it doesn't come outward like the Viking ones tend to, it's brown striped if that helps?? Dave. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

  6. Maybe off another type of van? the roof seems a little too long for the van unless thats just the angle of the picture?

  7. I thought the same thing!

  8. I think MH maybe on to something there.

I have never seen one like that before, quite unique :)

  9. The roof does look like it is more so on the near side but the roof is slightly skewed there seems to be a problem with the rear hinge at the other side.

  10. Silver

    Silver Needs points/will pay!

I'd say Devon Sundowner, if the roof wasn't quite so tall! Another mystery conversion:)

  11. I'm wondering if it was perhaps a DIY job. The layout appears to be loosely based on the Devon cupboard style - cooker and fridge in the same place, but no rear locker. I tend to agree regarding the roof, though.

  12. Looks likes a converted panel van... If you look at the internal panels you have a ledge the comes out from he window.. Most converted panel vans I think :) you can't get the doors cards to fit flush.. Hope that helps mate and good luck. Oh and also you have rubbers seals with inserts which a lot of convertions used. Keep us posted

  13. It is a converted panel van but thats quite common devon, danbry etc used them quite a lot.

  14. I cannot take my eyes of the V on the roof ,has that been painted on or is it part of the top?

  15. Hi the V is actually moulded into the roof and then painted.

  16. So, V for Viking perhaps?.........or maybe someone's pinched the W!
