What was your very first proper job?

  1. I got HF a pipe and smoking jacket, they look epic with his massive burns. But he's having a bit of a problem with his sucking technique. Are there any pipe smokers on here that could give him a few tips?

    Can't lick the roads anymore they have them modern cleaner machine things, i do miss the old days:(

  5. in't North we was set to't mill at 5 years old (in Yorkshire accent)...never did us any 'arm. Soft bloody southerners!

Well ,prob not a job really but during the 70"s Elec Co. strike /3 day week /no leckie ,I started buying the candles from the church for six pence(2 and a half pence in young peeps money today) a box>6 in box , and punting them round the doors (I old pence a candle)>I00% mark up ! was well profitable ! (lordy me ,we were poor.....)

    £65 A Week, i worked down pit for 2 bob a year, got up half hour before i went to bed licked the road ----

  12. My first full time job was as a research assistant in a university's Academic Quality department, but it was only for 1 year. I've had loads of part time, temporary or temp agency jobs, but my first full time AND permanent job is the one I'm doing now.
     
  13. Burger King in 1994, dad was an interior/exterior designer for them and told me about vacancies in Uxbridge, then I moved to West Drayton, left after about 1 year, wasn't me really.
    Moved onto welding and fabrication after that. Then many more jobs since haha

My first job was working for a fisherman repairing rod and reels on a sat for £2 all day. 25 years on and i still buy old reels to do up and use :) My second job was an apprentice electrician. 50 hours for £33 a week. Still have the wage slips too! Still in the same trade and loving it every day
     
  15. Mine was a chef, My Dad thought me from a nipper so I went into it at 17, Wages were good though. Used to to do about 70 hours a week but earned nearly £300 a week after tax.
