What type of bulbs are used to backlight the dashboard?

What sort of light cast do they have? Are they harse and bright ? I like the warm glow from the normal ones? But as you say even after cleaning the glass behind the dials and the dial face they are still a little not the brightest.

 

I still have the green filters in so I don't see any difference with the light, it's just brighter. They're dimmable anyway, so if I found them too bright, I could turn them down a bit with the headlight switch (which is a novelty for me because until recently I didn't have a dimmer for the dash lights )
