    Wondering about ‘pressure relief valves’.
I know the short spring one goes at the fly wheel end, but my concern is with the long spring. Should it have so much resistance, putting it back in? The little piston in it seems to be free enough.
    Thanks.
( by that, I mean doing the cap back up)…

If it's not a shiny EMPI one but original, it's the correct one . . If you read the "VW Beyond Guesswork document, it says..

Pressure relief.. When 44mm long : force 5.6-7.3kg
    Pressure control . When 20mm long : force 3.1-3.8kg

Under the table in the dark corner... full length, 0kg when it pings off

    :p
Yes. Both original with plain barrel slides. No noticeable wear, just a bit ‘smudged’ one side.
    Thank.
You think worth replacing the slotted caps for the nut type ones with the socket fitting in the middle?

Ok. They need two new crush washers. Will any do or are they specific to them?

  6. Stick the old ones back on.

Whatever you put in the hole to stop it off needs to be the same length as the originals from flange to tip give or take a few percent, or you are altering the pressure.

The washers are just oil seals. Providing they crush to seal properly, theres probably a fair choice of materials, but new annealed copper crush washers seem to be correct there.

Did you click on the link? If you don’t want to purchase it from Heritage search the part number (N0138174), it’s available from Amazon, eBay and all of the usual parts suppliers.

How do you buy anything if you can never find specific stuff? Just type the description of whatever it is you want into a search engine and you’ll have all the choice you want.

    Ok. Oil cooler question.
    This ‘Hoover Part’.
Apparently I need it for better cooling. I have the newer oil cooler and it does have a bracket fitted to it, where the hoover part goes, but my bracket isn’t ‘L’ shaped, it’s just the part that fits with the 2 10 mm nuts.
There never was a ‘Hoover part’, just this. Is this correct? 4D13F4B2-136E-45EE-B8FB-B03892709A2E.png Mine is just the bit with the 3 holes…
