What padding have you used when refitting the fuel tank?

  1. Not sure if the title makes sense but I will be putting my fuel tank back in over the Christmas break.

When I removed it, there was a brittle foam/horse hair(!!) strip running along the bottom of the tank which I assume stops it rubbing on the steel shelf where it sits.

I want to replace it with some kind of thin foam pad and wanted to know what you guys have done to yours?

    Cheers 8)

  2. Closed cell foam as it doesent hold water

Cheap camping mat cut up is perfect

  3. It's meant to have padding????!!!!!

    Marmite

  4. some people have insulated the back wall of the tank area too,
id think its a good idea to keep the noise down...

  5. I used some lengths of self-adhesive neoprene foam in place of the original stuff. Put some foam around the oblong outlet hole in the pressing as well, to stop water getting in.

Wish I'd stuck some bitumen tiles in the tank compartment, as art b says...it resonates like mad. Next time around...

  6. I think I might have to buy some of those bitumen pads for the tank compartment....might as well do it as the tank is out!

Any other ideas for under the tank?
