You have to drain the oil first! The seals come in the seal and gasket kit for the engine, don't know if they're available separately. The copper washers are use once crush washers, so if you take it off you must have new replacements. The bolts screw straight into the case so don't go over the torque limit. Don't use any kind of sealant on the new seal, a wipe with clean engine oil will suffice and make sure the new seal goes on straight. If you have it a smear of permatex around the bolts and seal will prevent any future leaks
My reference is to not using any of the red blue or black Marmitee most people recognise as being an engine sealant. Most who haven't worked on these engines (I deduced that the op wasn't familiar due to him not knowing what the item pictured was...) would go to halfords and get an off the shelf sealant/perma gasket which would be unacceptable to use.
Thanks all for the advice, £50 for the engine gasket kit is a lot to replace one seal! I was planning to change the oil so I get hold seal first and the crush washers first.
Joker you are right, I not familiar with these things, trying to remember the skills I picked trying to keep my £10 student cars on the road. You live and learn!
Are you 100% sure it's leaking from there and not tracking down from above. It would be a shame to mess with it for no reason.
My money is on the dipstick rubber or the filler tube. It does look like it's coming from above. Mine has more leaks than that
^^^i had this and it dripped down !! Was no dipstick bellows at all !! If it's the O ring possible on veewee (gsf)
