What if money was no object

  1. I'm 100% with you on that. This makes you think and focus on what really is important.

  2. That was brilliant Para. ;D ;D

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    A mistake I certainly made for 20 years. so...
    I've brought up my kids to do what they enjoy and sod the money. A big part of falling out with ex who was always pushing them. Something I repeat over and over when I see them worrying about what they "should" do. One's in India for a year and the other's sat at home self-educating in all sorts while he wonders what it is he really does want to do with himself. He knows he's welcome to do that forever if he wants. :)
    In the meantime No.2 is going to potter up and down the canals with me and renovate a house in France. I hope he finds his feet somewhere along the line.

  4. Love it para...feeling a bit lost at the moment...not sure what I want to do really... This has got my mind thinking conjuring up ideas... If only money was no object x

    So true I started off like that I really wanted to be a electrician so after school that's what I did
    Somewhere along the line I ended up in a office earning good money but hating not being hands on
    It took me to be ill to realise quality of life is so much more important
    but you still need to do something for money so I don't agree with be being a lay about long term as it doesn't do you or others any good long term.

    Now i would really like to be a tree surgeon or a game keeper but I have to be realistic that its not going to happen so you do have to be a real world about it as well

  6. Love this! :)

  7. Find something you like doing & become a master of it. :) There will always be somebody who will pay a good fee for your skill.

    Sounds good advice to me :)

    Right, better get the Yellow Pages out and find where the local love Emporium is ;)

  8. The Dalai Lama once said what confused him most about humanity......
    Man.
    Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
    Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
    And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
    the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
    he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.

  9. Mmm definitely something pertinent for today

  10. Rather reminiscent of the Venus project way of thinking!

  11. Cheers to Para and Doodlebug for these posts. I can be guilty of a lot of the bad stuff that was pointed out and I need to be reminded of what is important sometimes.
    Agree with Matty though that you have to be realistic.
    I need to earn enough to look after the family without relying on the State, and I would object to my taxes going to someone who is trying to 'find themselves' whilst I am paying their benefits. If they have not chosen to be out of work or part time etc. then I have no problem with them getting support.
    For those that have found a way for a 100% truly fulfilling, self sustainable lifestyle, I take my hat off. :hattip:

  12. Not enough people, do enough fun stuff... ;D

  13.
  14. And if money was no object is be a zoo keeper xxx
