My wife bought some beard oil for me as a present about a year ago. It's sat on the shelf unused as i never saw the point of putting oil on my beard. I mean, i dont' add oil to any other part of my body (special circumstances excepted).. and i never added oil to the hair that used to grow on the top of my head - sadly don't have that any more - so what would this achieve on my chin hair? M asked me the other day "why don't you use the beard oil i bought you?" couldn't come up with a plausible answer quick enough so i felt obliged to go and try it out. I have to say, its exactly what i expected - i now have an oily beard.. and there is faint aroma of nutmeg. Don't think i'll be using it again. So, why the thread - well, we haven't had a "what oil" thread for some time.. and maybe we could collectively come up with some alternate uses, save wasting it? Lubricating door locks maybe? Do any of you other beardy types oil your face growth? If so, why? What i am missing
Perhaps it's like oiling air filters to catch the dust? Then you buy their special beard shampoo and conditioner and go around in circles making a tidy profit for the providers of the commodities involved.
The packing makes no reference to a temperature range - am i expected to use the same oil on a cold winters day in the snow and ice and also in the heat of a baking british heatwave? Would it provide the necessary lubrication for both scenarios? Is there a gap in the market for a multigrade beard oil?
I’ve been trying to grow face fungus this year after a mate bet me £250 I wouldn’t go a year. Got about 3 months in, well past the ‘itchy’ phase, and it got all itchy again. Bit of readjusting showed some dry skin underneath that was causing it, bought some of the cheapest beard oil I could find (£4, Amazon) and within hours of putting it on, I was tickety boo. works wonders if you need it, completely pointless if you don’t!
Morrocan Argon oil, can't beat it, expensive but worth it, silky smooth feel non greasy, Beard oil is used sparingly a few drops, it's used for taming the odd hair that won't brush/blow dry down, rubbed in to hands and patted on lightly Do not use an oil can or grease gun And avoid icecream cones and toasted marshmallows at all costs
I don't use any oil on my beard ........................... it may be obvious from photos I've posted in the past. Ms.T says she can identify what I've had for breakfast/lunch by the state of my beard.
