What are the must see/visit places in north wales?

  1. The farmers sons a wally though

  2. Going up the Orm is a killer in a car, personally I wouldn't attempt it in a bay, well not in may bay at least. Me and Wifey went up in my little Cinq and after half way it was 1st gear foot to the floor and 899cc's screaming for mercy, the temp gauge suddenly woke up too which it very rarely does, so I'd advise the tram or cable car if it's a nice day.

Don't forget Anglesey with Llanfair PG or Klan fare try silly oh gog agork. <--- My shortened version! It's really only worth a visit to get a picture of the name at the railway station.

^^this sort of thing floats my boat so to speak, especially if you finally get pee'd off by the rain

Llechwedd and Dinorwig (Electric Mountain) are particularly spectacular:thumbsup:

As @Lord Congi says, Betws-y-coed is nice with a pleasant walk to Swallow Falls.

As you like walking, if you go to Llangollen like @jivedubbin recommends, walk back along the old canal, starting at Horsehoe Falls to
Trevor Basin & the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Telford & Jessop's masterpiece of engineering rises 126 feet above the valley:eek:
    Scary in a boat......

  10. Just a word of caution well actually two words od caution

1 never look a sheep in the eye , they have scary eyes like some sort of devil animal
2 If you should go to Bala ,learn whelsh ,your day will be much more pleasent

  11. Cwm Idwal and Pete's eats sounds like a fine day out

Holyhead mountain has some wonderful walking and views as does a walk from Cemlyn bay to Church bay on Anglesey and back. Menai Bridge and Beaumaris are worth a visit. A walk to Aber falls is spectacular especially after wet weather. Drive through Snowdonia or around the Lleyn peninsular (a must visit is Uchamynydd).

    Just so many places

  13. It's an exceptional view, probably the best in Snowdonia. just a shame about the amount of people there but that makes it a safer walk up too.

We went up some years ago one cold clear January morning from Pen Y Pass. I was wearing some windproof salopets as the week before I'd nearly frozen up wearing some fleece trousers on Yr Garn in a high wind with ice particles in the air. as we passed Llyn Llydaw it started to warm up, 10 minutes later I was so hot I had to unzip the 2 side zips on the salopets to expose my arse to let some heat out, as we got higher and the paths converged so more people around and all in the same boat, overheating. When we got to the top we sat there in our tee shirts for over an hour, it was as warm as summer, a memorable day.

If you like the solitude like me the the northern half of the Carneddau range is good with lovely views and a nice ridge walk from Drum (the quiet end above Aber) all the way to Pen yr Olwen (the busy end above Ogwen)
