It does look nice, usually we just pitch up and hope for the best but I may book ahead for that one.

  8. Best kids bikes in the world. also in Shropshestershire. If you have kids, avoid, it could get expensive.

So, sorted out the first couple of days after spring camp.
By Sunday we'll be looking for a hookup to recharge the batteries so based on the helpful advice from you chaps on here.

Small batch campsite (thanks @earlylatebay ) and we'll have a look around the Victorian village and Ironbridge (@jivedubbin and @Jack Tatty ).
We will probably stay two nights at Small batch, possibly three if Jan talks me into going into Shrewsbury shopping, there's probably a good pub there though, thanks @bluerustybucket
@theBusmonkey is it Bratch Park just South of Wolverhampton? If so a visit there sounds good as I like a nice Victorian erection and an easy bike ride on a disused railway.
I've had a look at the Monstay farm campsite @baybirmingham and we'll possibly stop there for a day or two on our way south.

After about Wednesday I think we'll head down towards Ludlow and Worcester but we'll have a mooch about Long Mynd on the way down (cheers @Flakey and @Keith.H ) and the only proper deadline will be techenders Friday or Saturday.
It would be nice to drop in for coffee with @poptop2 while we're going past.

    Mate I live near Shrewsbury
    I would go here
    http://www.browfarmcampsite.co.uk
Cross thebridge over the brook, turn left, 5 mins your here, one of the bestest pubs ever
    http://www.thebridgespub.co.uk
Turn right and just walk onto the hills

Then I would go to Foxholes site in Bishops Castle and do a pub crawl, two breweries, how cold you go wrong!!!

That does look a lovely campsite, we need an electric hook up though for at least the Sunday night as we're coming straight from spring camp.

  14. Noteworthy ale houses to try out in the Ironbridge / Coalport area.

All Nations on Coalport road, good real ale pub and only a short walk from Blists hill Victorian open air museum.

The Shakespeare, at the bottom of Coalport road and opposite the tar tunnel, worth a visit does good food and so does the Brewrey just up the road from it. Tar tunnels probably worth a visit too, as with the tile museum; and if you're over that side of the river you might as well go for a pint in The Boat, The Half Moon and The Swan in Jackfield.

Pubs in Ironbridge itself, I'd recommend The Tontine Hotel, The White horse, and Ye Old Robin Hood. If you can bothered to walk halfway up the bonk, then you've got The Golden Ball and The Horse and Jockey.

I normally give the Malthouse a miss as it bores me and they used to play jazz on a Friday night in there, but if that floats your boat then take it.

This is my old stomping ground and where I grew up before I met the Mrs and moved over wolves. Still go back as often as possible though.

Ps, that small batch campsite is good too. Stayed there last summer in the van.

Pps, stay away from Woodside and Sutton Hill, they'll have the wheels off your bus as you drive through.

Dunno about a tile museum, I've got some old tiles on the wall in my kitchen. :) The Tar tunnels sound intriguing though, what are they?

There's a LOT of pubs and breweries on this thread. At this rate I'll have to employ a driver to get my van from place to place while I sleep in the back. :)

  18. It's a disused mine (tunnel) where they used to mine tar. It's cut into the side of the hill and runs underground for a couple of hundred meters. They give you a hard hat to protect your noggin and you get to walk up and down the length of it marvelling at the pools of tar you can see cut away at the sides of the tunnel. I've not been for years and remember it being pricey for what it is, but the kids will enjoy it if you've got any. Forgot to mention, you've got the China museum down that way too if that's your thing. It's where they used to make all the famous Coalport China.

From what I remember, you can buy a family ticket which will get you access to all the attractions in the Ironbridge gorge and coalbrook dale area; although that will probably cost more than a fully restored concourse standard Westfalia.

  19. The tile museum is very good ,it sells tiles as well also its the place that made tiles for Victorian London underground with a mock up of some of the station tiling, there's a free bus between the attractions in iron bridge .
