Well that hurt then!

  1. After being told I had a spiral fracture of the finger a couple of days back, I eventually got to see someone at the fracture clinic today. Probably not the best day to go with the doctors strike ::)
After waiting nearly 2 hours after my appointment I was seen by a gorrilla/Bulgarian doctor. Here's a pic of my finger after he none too gently ripped off the temporary splint.

The gorilla Bulgarian doctor then told me it wasn't worth pinning or wiring the fracture. It just needed twisting back in to shape and strapping up again

He didn't give any warning, offer pain relief etc.......just grabbed my finger and twisted it round..........I may have sworn a little bit at this point :-[

So here we are strapped up and hopefully on the mend

Still bloomin hurts though - time for some pain relief in the form of a pint of port! :beer_yum:

  11. Went back yesterday to the fracture clinic. Xray shows is mended :), but despite trying to keep the finger mobile, it won't bend far. When I try and make a fist my middle finger still sticks up and it looks my hand is suffering from Tourrettes. ;)

Unfortunately I got the Bulgarian doc again who just grabbed my finger and told me it just needs mobilising then forced it to bend to try and touch my palm (which it wouldn't) - to the accompanying sounds of various thing popping and twanging in my finger and me swearing at him (again) and almost hitting him.

He's just told me to soak it in warm water and keep forcing it in to a fist :-

I will have to try and get it moving - don't want to be sent off to see the physioterrorists ;)

  13. Think of the positive side tho'. At least with that middle finger sticking up you can say goodnight to the boss before leaving work!!
