Weird Electrical connector thingymajig

  1. Erm, what's this?

In my Engine Bay, thought it was like an oversized crimp/connector but I disconnected it and it's almost like 2 female plugs that don't even look like they meet...

    Perspective...

That's the inline fuse for the blower motor. The silver box thing is the relay.

  3. That's an inline fuse? Good lord it's huge...

Shouldn't there be something in it if it's a fuse or is the actual fuse section internal to these bits?

It's switched via the earth lead at the dash end on the red lever. The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual is quite comprehensive and helpful in putting it all back. And before you get shot down for bothering with something that really is useless, if your heating system is good, you'll notice its benefits when in traffic and town driving.

  12. My heater fan is controlled by a switch on the dash. Don't ask..... But its good for making sure it's switched off when I need the iginition on for say timing adjustment. I intend to put one there to switch the clock off. TICK TOCK all night long GRRRRR

One thing I have noticed is mine has got better and better over the past few years. Every so often it blows some stuff out of the tube. I recommend removing the bid pipes underneath and making sure they are clear. Last summer I kept the heating on and had no problems but more stuff has come up and out as coming back from CJ it was like driving a furnace.

  17. Sorry what pipes are you emptying? I shall do this! :)

The main pipe (or trunking) from the Y pipe at the rear to the front.

  20. Worth taking all your flexi tubes off and giving them a hoovering inside. And things like the front riser.

There are years-worth of vileness in them...
