Not really, if you watched last weeks you will have seen them bailing out a flood using a chain of men and buckets. Oh and they no longer have and rely on paper charts.
We’ve been watching, but missed last night (Grand parent duties) will be catching up later. Incidentally, who thinks they all look like children?
You need to be young with plenty of energy. I wouldn't want to get up in the middle of the night day in day out at my age.
The first one of the Type 23 Frigates came into service in 1990 4 years before I left. They will slowly be phased out, some were sold to the Chilean navy and they are starting to scrap those that have done their time in the Royal Navy, the first one of these is currently in Portsmouth awaiting sale then scrapping, this was it in December as we went past on our way into the Solent.
looked like ... The Russian sub , was all over them like a cheap jacket, they even popped up to the surface, before nudging the ship, if that farce was during a conflict, the Northumberland would have been a sitting duck..
Two ways of looking at this, as a single ship maybe, but if a conflict more assets would have assigned to this task including more RN ships, RAF Poseidon patrol aircraft, more of our own subs and helicopters.
