The plan was originally to get a few members - primarily from the Midlands but anyone was welcome to meet up in Borth and go from there....... Dubious and friends headed off on Friday 1st June to be joined by Moley76 and Poptop2 on the Saturday, I was due to arrive Sunday although due to a weather mailfunction Borth was abandonned early Sunday morning, and Dubious - soaked through and fed up went home...so a few phone calls and diversions later found me poptop and moley meeting up in Newtown at a pub and deciding to drive out to Pengarreg caravan park in Llanrhystud.
The weather cleared and camp was made where we barbequed and drank and visited the site clubhouse, Monday morning Moley76 (Dan/Stacey) had to go so me and poptop scouted around and then headed off to Aberystwyth, Monday was sunny and we had a great time although the site (which i had visited out of season in 2011) was chav city on this visit...... we packed up earlyish tuesday and went into Aber town plus drove around sightseeing etc before deciding to stop at the "next one we see" this was a gem of a site and i'll review it seperately and probably try for a meet there later in the year it was called Morben Isaf and it's just outside Machynlleth, after setting up there we went walk about while the 2 lou's (Malc's wife and mine are both called Lou) prepared tea which was a homemade chinese style curry we eat drank and were very merry that night, Wednesday we packed up and headed into Mach for the market then off to Nant-y-moch to drive up and over the mountain to the reservoir, it was an amazing drive up the mountain and on single track roads even though it was rainy and we were in the clouds it was stunning - these vans are great for reaching wild places to eat lunch - which we did at the summit.

I cannot begin to explain how wicked it was driving up the mountain and how much i was smiling, when we stopped on the actual dam itself it was just surreal, it's got to be driven again in the sunshine one day i hope! when we had finished the drive round we regrouped and headed back to Newtown for fuel and the scenic route back before splitting at Craven arms and i headed home towards Shrewsbury M54 and Malc the other way to Kiddy....i did over 350 trouble free miles with no problems except my clonky gearbox and the odd backfire from Malc's van.... anyway i'll now post some pictures of the trip and i'll try to do a video later and add it to this thread so pop back now and again as it's going to take me a fair bit of uploading. Also don't forget to watch our little homage to Hippyrichy and Marrowak which we filmed "ad hoc" while out walking.

Now the highlight of the holiday - driving wise for me was the trip up the mountain to the reservoir, single track with no barriers and some awesome drops, the pictures don't do it justice, we stopped for a picnic on the summit and i really enjoyed it.

Mate it was ace, the weather could have ruined it, it's a shame really that Dubious got so wet early on, we was "this close" to abandonning it on Sunday but i think Malc and Dan felt a bit guilty that i had set out, fair play they stuck at it and although in the end only me and malc did the full trip it was worth it, we are going to organise a small meet later this year at the lovely site we found and i'm hoping we can do the mountain trip again then - malc? what say you?

I'm currently uploading a video of the mountain drive to you tube and i'll post it here when it's done, it really is breathtaking scenery and i can't imagine how it would be in the dry - the views must be immense.

Perhaps i could tempt you all with another run , i have a plan that would take in the Elan valley ( easily as stunning as that run , if not better ) stop overnight at Morben isaf and then return via that road over Nant y moch ?.
