Were stripes mainly an American thing? Pin-striping was popular in the 70's and early 80's , other than Devon's I have never seen any UK ones with stripes? I quite like them they add a nice period feel to the van/bus? I am quite tempted by the chrome waistbanding also but its bleeding expensive and I really dont want to drill holes in my van as it is! Keep them posting looking good!
You can buy stick on chrome trim that can be used on the beltline. Theres a thread on here somewhere. Its a cheap alternative if you want some bling. I reckon the US in the 70's was just a place of bad taste. Just look at the murial painted, shag carpeted passion wagons they built (and the bay landmark). I'd like to think we were a bit more restrained in the UK but there were still some stinkers.
I think i've now posted up everything the interweb has to offer stripe wise. rickyrooo1, i found this shop on ebay: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Stripe-Shop?_rdc=1 For about a tenner it should be possible to lay a few stripes of different colours down.
I've gotta add Evil Ben's early as its cool. I might mask off the side of my bus and spray a white stripe down the side then age it a little like Ben's.
