vw heritage rock and roll bed?

  1. anyone know if these are any good??
they look a bit like the bluebird custom ones but are they as good quality?

  2. Cant comment on the Heritage one, but i wouldn't buy another BlueBird one. not good quality for the money and not too good a design either, in that it comes with a stupid handle for easy change from bed to seat, and its designed so well that it rips the vinyl on the c pillar.

  3. yea i saw a thread on here about bluebird v volkswares and it looked to me to be 50/50 on them.
i was looking at heritage and saw their bed and looks very similar to blubird minus the handles for pulling it out to a bed. dont know if its new to heritage as not seen it before.
just curious really as i picked up a cheap laminated mdf r&r bed from just campers open day but know am thinking its pretty poo even though iv not fitted it yet. thinking of cutting it up and using it for something else.

  4. I think the hinges are pretty similar on all beds in so far as they go from a seat to a bed, is this the heritage one you mean?

Seems a bit dear to me, as it still looks like it needs boarding of some sort putting on it to support the cushions the over all look would be pretty much the same as your jk mdf one ( i may be wrong as i now take a very jaded view of costly rock n roll beds) ;)

  5. yea thats the one.
your right about when cushions and kick board and all that is on it will look the same haha.
i was also thinking of weight. the mdf one is really heavy but i guess when the metal one will be just as heavy with the boards attached.
i dont want to spend a lot of money as did a little add up of receipts last night and realised im just on the figure i had in my mind to do the whole van with. im painting it now and can think of at least another grand to go before finished but have been offered one of those heritage beds for £160

  6. Mine, I'm sure, is a homemade jobby. Works perfectly without tearing anything. You could probably knock one up and walk away with change from

maybe im just being sucked into buying things that i dont really need.
i have hinges and a perfectly useable brand new bed.
i have more important things to spend my money on like a whole new lock set, fridge. cooker lesiure battery set up the list is endless oh and maybe finish painting putting back together and getting an mot hahaha yea sod the metal frame bed!!
    cheers ;D

  8. Lol. Just get it on the road and use it, all the 'cosmetic' stuff can be done as you enjoy the thrills of camping.

I'm driving around in a part resto and loving it. Every now and then I'll do a bit more but just glad I can get out in it.

  9. yea true
hopefully she will be ready for mot in a few months if i can remember how to put her back together!!
iv been working on her everyday since i got her and when im not working on her i think of stuff i need for her hahahah
or in most cases not what i need but what i want which is 2 differant things!
so instead of doing this i will go to bed ready to get up early and get another couple of coats of paint on her tomorrow ;D
