Vineger

  1. Dont laugh but ive got my carb body sat in a tub of white vinegar till the morning

Im amazed at how much crud it had removed from a carb thats been cleaned lots of times with chemicals

This is my latch ditch attempt at getting this carb to function correctly so im hoping theres still somthing left of the carb in the morning not just a big molten mess of alloy

If it does work then this method may help other members with carb troubles

Maybe if you attach a car battery and a sacraficial anode (or is it cathode) it'd be even better (more fun)?

  11. would putting it into cola help clean it or would it dissolve it? ???

  13. The hotter it gets the quicker it eats the alloy zed and apparently its non proportianal aswell

I dont think its red gasket dude as it behaves funny but that was my first thought
It may behave differently in vinager though

Whatever all the stuff is theres loads of it floated to the surface so im i high hopes this carb may actually work

I should have an empi one arriving tmw but its always good to have spares if this and the empi one work

  14. Vinegar really is amazing stuff. I use it as a cleaner all around the house. Then the smell makes me crave a salad. Before indoor plumbing was such a big hit, vinegar was used for "touch-ups" between baths. It's antiseptic qualities help keep those special areas squeaky clean in a pinch. It can be used in a spray bottle to kill weeds organically. I've even heard it controls dandruff by resetting your scalp's ph balance. It also absorbs household odors. I just read that but I didn't believe it until I tried it. The article said if you've gone & ranked up yer house by frying something, just wave a vinegar soaked rag in the air. Well then I went and fried some chips and over-heated the oil. The house smelled so bad I tried it out of desperation. I soaked a towel, clipped it to the ceiling fan & walked away for about ten minutes. I swear the house didn't smell like anything at all when I came back in.
    Weird stuff, vinegar is.

  15. Ive just been out and checked it and its picked up its game

Lots more froth now and a steady stream of bubbles from the large surface areas so ive tipped half the vinager out and topped up with water

Ill boil it tmw in a pan and rebuild it for testing

If the empi carb arrives tmw from cool air ill fit that and if its all ok then the rebuilt carb will have to wait till after spring camp for a test

  16. Vinegar really does work, on rusty steel as well. My standard de-rusting technique.
