Vango Kela airbeam awning - SOLD

Discussion in 'Non Late Bay Classifieds' started by Harryankle, Jul 5, 2014.

  1. Hi I have a brand new Vango airbeam awning for sale. It's the Kela standard and includes footprint and carpet.
£440 all in delivered uk mainland.
It's unopened and has a full guarantee, currently still at Vango due in Bolton next week
It's a cancelled order and needs to go as it's not something I'd normally stock.
I ordered it for a forum user but his wife didn't like it once she had seen one . I am a Vango retailer and I guess strictly speaking I shouldn't be listing this as a trader however I thought I'd offer it here before I cancel the order. These are hard to come by especially at a price like this.
I apologise if this breaks the rules , please remove it if you need to,
    Alistair

Pics and videos can be seen on Vangos website[IMG]

  2. Is this one of those awnings that pumps up and doesn't have any poles?

  3. Yes that's the kind, they're called airbeam

  4. Pm sent

  5. Does it come with the kit to connect it to the van? And is the sleeping area separate but can be opened up to make one big area? Pretty tempted.

  6. Have seen them in action , they are amazing !

  7. I'm the guy who cancelled on Alistair (sorry mate, I feel awful about it).

That's a hell of a deal with the footprint and the carpet for less than the cost of the standard awning alone. Sadly my missus had set her heart on a dome and upon seeing the Kela in a campsite she threw a blue meanie with me, no matter how easy it was to put up. women!

  8. Hi Austin, yes you can detach the inner sleeping pod to make one big area. It comes with the fig 8 strip to attach you your van.
Colin, it's no problem at all, I can cancel the awning if it's not sold and alls fine.
If I can pre sell it that's great, to be honest I offered it here as I know they are hard to come by and if I cancelled it I couldn't get another.

  9. Does it also have a loop for putting a pole in to clamp to the van?

No problem with you selling like this @Harryankle - you contribute to the forum. What we don't accept is people who only come on here to sell. Good luck

  11. Pretty sure it does, I'll find out tomorrow for you
I've used my old kyham one for years and never had the fig 8 strips pop off even in fierce winds
I stopped using the clamps as it scratched the van a little

    Thanks Bern

Slightly off topics Al , but how would I get a Kyham door zip replaced or repaired? Do you have any contacts?

  13. What's wrong with it Bern
    Exactly what happens?

There is a gap of about an inch where it is always open - you can force the zip past it to close it but the gap opens again afterwards. It's been like it for a while but it's getting worse :(

  15. Great , sounds fixable.
    So firstly the zip puller
It's directional, you pull it forwards and it closes (seals the zip) you pull it backwards it opens(splits) the zip.
As you pull it forwards it funnels the zip into the narrower back end and this squeezes the zip together.

Sometimes due to it snagging or being pulled too hard (drunk ;-)) the puller gets damaged.
It's a cast piece of metal and usually if you took a cross section of it it would look like a 'U' yours has opened slightly into a 'V' shape so it's no longer squeezing the zip together well enough.
Carefully zip the zip to a section that closes fine then very gently squeeze the back end of the zip back together. A bit on each side a little at a time, you don't want to over squeeze it as of you start to bend it back it might just snap.

Test it to see if it works ok.
If it does zip it completely open then close it six inches. If the zip is slightly open right next to where it's stitched in then you might have to press the teeth together by hand or squeeze with pliers.

If you have made a proper mess of the zip and the two sides are different lengths then pm me and I'll ring you up.

If you still have problems then check the zip, it's not actually teeth more of a spiral and occasionally you can get a nick on the edge this can be trimmed off with a sharp blade.
    Hope this helps

  19. Ha ha no prob, interesting to read! Thanks, thinking about it! Looks a cracking awning. Obviously a very good price but still a lot of money! In your opinion. How easy are they to out up/ take down?
    Thanks Andy

  20. I'll be honest Andy, I haven't used one. I've seen the videos and they look very easy and quick.
I'm using a khyam motor dome sleeper with extension that I have owned for 4 years. It's great but heavy, very big ( the kids sleep in it) and most suited our needs when we bought it.
Currently the air beams aren't made big enough for all for of us , the kitchen cupboards etc, we have a tin top :)
